Lahore: Pakistan Peoples’ Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif should be given the best medical care as he was very sick and needed urgent treatment.
The PPP chairman was talking to the media after meeting the elder Sharif, who is suffering from cardiac ailment, at Kot Lakhpat jail to inquire about his health.
The meeting continued for an hour between the two leaders.
He rubbished the perception that the PML-N leader has cut any deal with the powers that be. I don’t think that it is correct, Bilawal said.
The PPP delegation included Qamar Zaman Kaira, Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokar, Jameel Soomro and Hassan Murtaza.
The meeting is considered critical in the backdrop of political turmoil in the country.
Talking to Geo News, senior anchorperson Hamid Mir said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leadership is of the view that it was allowed on humanitarian grounds.
However, privately they say that the PTI government would use this as endorsement of their narrative that both PML-N and PPP are hand in glove.
Political analyst Sohail Warraich said Bilwal’s meeting with Nawaz is actually a reaction to what Prime Minsiter Imran Khan said in a rally in Thar last week.
I don’t think a grand alliance is in the making but PPP did send a strong message, Warraich added.
